Agence Française de Développement Joins Finance for Development Trust Fund to Support Financial Inclusion

This partnership aims to drive economic growth, job creation and long-term resilience by advancing responsible, inclusive financial ecosystems that meet the needs of poor, vulnerable and underserved people and of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The program will place a strong focus on reaching women and women-owned businesses, strengthening the resilience of financial systems to climate change, and promoting digital financial services.
The new program brings together country-level policy support with actionable analytics and thought leadership. Country-level activities will support public authorities in designing regulatory frameworks, adopting supervisory practices and establishing market infrastructures that promote financial inclusion and client protection. At the global level, research and analysis will be developed to further guide financial inclusion strategies that address gender gaps and help vulnerable people adapt to climate change.
The F4D Umbrella Trust Fund is a global platform for coordinated efforts to develop deep, inclusive, efficient, and resilient financial systems. With the addition of AFD as a donor, the program reinforces its commitment to driving sustainable, inclusive economic development through financial innovation and strategic partnerships.
